About Awakening with Art

Awakening is an art--of discovering peace, finding inspiration, and spreading joy - and these fine art prints are designed to support that process.

Meet Kim + Steve

We are a husband and wife team of artists!

We met at the art gallery where we were both showing our work, and two years later we got married in a private ceremony in the mountain wilderness in the Rocky Mountains.

We love mountains. We love each other. We love art.

We hope you'll love our art.

Meet Kim Roberts, Artist

Kim Roberts is a Colorado-based contemporary artist.

Each of her prints starts as original fine art, created with oil or acrylic paint, ink, encaustic wax, or watercolor.

Trained as a mental health professional and meditation instructor, Kim taught yoga programs at luxury resorts and retreats around the world for 20 years. She earned an MA in Contemplative Psychology from Naropa University in 1994 and received Pattabhi Jois’ authorization to teach Ashtanga Yoga in 2003.

She is the author of two books, Ashtanga Yoga for Beginner’s Mind and Toward a Secret Sky: Creating Your Own Modern Pilgrimage. She has also contributed to MindBodyGreen and Elephant Journal, and other publications.

Kim spent the better part of 20 years living and working in South and Southeast Asia, leading retreats and teaching healing practices at high-end resorts and retreat centers—including a two-year stint managing the yoga program at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Central Hong Kong and another two-year stint teaching yoga at several five-star resorts in the Kingdom of Bhutan.

When painting proved to be her source of wellness, she shifted her focus to making art. She has had numerous solo exhibits in the Denver area, and was previously represented by commercial galleries in Crested Butte, Breckenridge, Evergreen and Pagosa Springs, Colorado.

Meet Steve Austin, Artist

Steve Austin brings his training + skill as a figurative artist to each piece.

Steve attended the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, as well as the Atlanta College of Art. He worked as an editorial illustrator, graphic designer and art director during his years in Atlanta. Steve’s editorial illustrations were published in Georgia Trend, Business Atlanta, The New York Times Sunday Magazine, The Tampa Tribune, The Journal of Atomic Scientists and Commonweal.

During the late 90’s Steve began to direct his energies towards the development of painting and sculpture. Although this period saw limited production, Steve’s sculptural, figurative and landscape paintings and drawings were shown in Atlanta at the Opus One and Lagerquist Galleries, as well as Gallerie des Arte in Sarasota, Florida. Steve was represented in Denver by Valkarie Gallery, Spark Gallery and D’art Gallery.

Steve moved to Colorado in 2007 where he concentrated primarily on landscape painting. In 2015 he entered into competition and won best of show at the annual Littleton Museum exhibit. A one-man show followed at the Littleton Museum. In 2016 Steve won second place in painting category at the annual Lone Tree Art Expo and took part in a group show at the Brighton Armory, Boulder in 2017. Three one-man shows followed: Non-linear Realities, in 2017 and The Atmosphere, in 2018, Patterns of Chaos in Nature – The Medical Arts at Spark November 2021, Third Annual Group Show at D’art Gallery in 2022 Lone Tree Art Expo 2022 and Littleton Museum 2022, 39th and 40th Annual All Colorado Art Show 2023 and 2024 at Curtis Arts and Humanities Center, Greenwood Village, Colorado.
